AI Workshop - Introduction to AI

by In Professional Development LTD

  • Welcome, objectives and housekeeping (recording, permissions, chat use)

  • AI jargon buster: plainEnglish definitions (LLMs, generative AI, model training, finetuning, hallucinations, prompt engineering)

  • What AI can (and can’t) do for ShawCity: practical examples relevant to typical roles (marketing content, admin automation, data summarisation, customer communications)

  • Break

  • Live demo: building effective prompts (stepwise examples, common pitfalls). Participants invited to suggest tasks for onthespot prompts.

  • BYOAI practical session: breakout rooms where small groups test tools or prompts (bring favourite tools, example tasks or use provided starter prompts).

  • Benefits, risks and ethics: privacy, IP, bias, regulatory considerations and company reputation. Simple decision checklist for safe use.

  • Policies & governance: suggested guardrails (acceptable use tips, data handling rules, when to involve IT/legal)

  • Q&A

This half day virtual workshop is to introduce Shaw City colleagues to practical, responsible uses of AI.  The session will demystify AI, build basic handson skills (prompting and tool usage), and equip staff with a simple framework for safe, productive adoption within their roles.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand what AI is (and isn’t): core concepts, common terms and realistic capabilities.

  • Use prompts effectively to get useful outputs from AI tools.

  • Recognise benefits, limitations and ethical/legal issues (data protection, bias, security).

  • Apply simple rules and resources (a BYOAI approach) to experiment safely in daytoday tasks.

  • Leave with actionable next steps, templates and a onepage AI cheatsheet.
